Robotics and Automation
The research of the group is focused on three topics:
- 1
Laser Processing
Includes topics as: Process automation and robot control, Laser forming, Remote laser cutting and welding, Hybrid laser arc welding, Laser beam shaping, Multi axis robot control.
- 2
Robotics & Embodied Artificial Intelligence
Includes topics as: Multi-modal Perception, Learning-based robot skill acquisition, Human-robot collaboration/interactions, Natural Language Processing, Conversational AI, Autonomous mobile manipulators, Reinforcement Learning for Robotics, AI/Machine learning applications in manufacturing, Robot Ethics and Safety.
- 3
Smart Production
Includes topics as: Reconfigurable manufacturing systems, Advanced robotics, Digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Industrial standards/reference architectures, industrial metaverse, Swarm and matrix production, production preparation and implementation, industry transfer.
It is a priority of the group that the research is put into practical use. As a result, the group conducts most of its research in close collaboration with industry. This can be end-users as well as system and technology providers.
Furthermore, since it is a characteristic of automation activities in manufacturing that good solutions require a multi-disciplinary approach, the group has a great emphasis on establishing close collaboration with other research groups across all faculties at Aalborg University, as well as with research institutions nationally and internationally.
