Whenever we do have funds and are able to hire PhD. students, we post our positions publicly on the university's main human resources page. This is a legal requirement for Danish universities, so please check the page regularly if you are interested in doing a PhD study with us.

The principal outlet of the knowledge we create is through the sports technology, engineering, and PhD candidates we produce. If you are looking for a candidate for your business within musculoskeletal modeling, computational ergonomics, biomedical engineering, sports technology, anthropometry, ergonomic design, or similar, feel free to reach out.

One very attractive type of public/private partnership is the industrial researcher. This program is funded by Innovationsfonden and supports joint research between an industry and a university. The researcher can be a PhD student or a Postdoc sharing time between the industry and the academic environment and drawing on the benefits of both.

We do very few research projects entirely within our own group. The vast majority of our scientific production happens in cooperation with external partners, either in bilateral cooperation or in larger projects with several partners.

We have participated in several international projects under FP7 and Horizon2020. Our role in these projects is usually as a provider of specialized knowledge about modelling and simulation, which is applied to the solution of a domain-specific problem defined by the coordinating institution. This also means that we normally take the role of a partner and rarely as the coordinator.

We have a long tradition of industrial partnerships, and it is a fact that the group would likely not have existed in the absence of research cooperation with the Ford Motor Company in the early history of the group.

There are also several instruments for national private-public partnerships that can be explored. Especially the industrial Ph.D. program is a good way for Danish businesses to cooperate with us.

The group offers annual PhD courses on musculoskeletal simulation, typically in the spring. A course is usually five days from Monday through Friday, and we alternate topics to serve new populations of PhD students as well as possible.

The courses are open to all PhD students from all universities and are free of charge, except for a small fee covering coffee and refreshments. The course is also open to industrial participants from whom we charge a fee. University affiliates who are not PhD students, i.e. post docs and such, are welcome to sign up and can participate on the same conditions as PhD students, but in case the course is overbooked, priority is given to PhD students. Courses are announced through the Moodle system of the PhD school where you can also sign up for the course.

We very frequently host visitors from cooperating research institutions and businesses, be they students, PhD students or faculty members.

Visits always have the purpose of cooperation on a joint research project, and the understanding between the parties is that this should lead to joint publications or joint research funding applications. Visitors typically bring domain expertise on the particular topic of the investigation, for instance orthopaedic devices, and we bring general knowledge, typically on musculoskeletal modeling, that can be applied to solving the problem.

Visitors receive a workplace in the group and interact continuously with the other members of the group.

We do not charge bench fees, but we also have no funds to support travel, accommodation and living costs for guests. We are not equipped to receiving summer interns because the group is running on low manpower during the summer holiday season.

As a general rule, please be ready to organize your own accommodation.

For stays shorter than two weeks, the best option is usually an inexpensive hotel, a hostel or B&B. For longer stays, the best option is to rent a flat. In this case, please notice that the minimum lease is usually one month and that the lease begins on the first and ends on the last day of a calendar month.

Sign any formal agreements, NDAs, IPR transfers or similar in connection with your stay - we simply do not have the manpower to handle such agreements.

Participate in the development of ERASMUS learning agreements. We are happy for you if you can get support for your stay, but we do not have the manpower to help you with the fundraising.
